Petition Launched to Increase Canadian Duty Free Limits
Take action to increase our outdated and unreasonably low duty free allowances.
We are happy to announce that we have launched a petition requesting that the Minister of Finance institute a personal exemption of $200 for Canadians returning from stays of less than 48 hours in the United States.
Currently, Canadians are not permitted any duty free allowance for stays of less than 24 hours in the United States, and are only permitted a $50 duty free allowance for stays of more than 24 hours but less than 48 hours. Our American neighbours, however, are entitled to a $200 duty free allowance when returning from all stays in Canada of less than 48 hours.
You can sign the petition here to have your voice heard.
Remember, the more signatures we receive, the more likely your voice will be heard, so be sure to share the petition with your friends.
